japanese 10100

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone knows what textbook/supplement books is used for elementary japanese I (10100)? I'm planning to self-study this but not sure about what textbook to use. Japanese: The Spoken Language and Japanese; The Written Language by Jorden and Noda is used by our community college but I'm not sure if it's good or not. Is this something I can contact the Japanese professor at Uchicago for or should I contact the general admissions office since it's improbable that I'll get a response from the professor?

Thanks!

The admissions office does not keep track of the books used for courses; you would have best luck contacting the Japanese department (through East Asian Languages and Civilizations) or contacting the bookstore to see which book is usually ordered for the class.

@Uchicago

Thank you! I’ll try contacting the East Asian language department first.

The book used from 101 to 201 is “Communicating in Japanese” written by the head of the Japanese language division, Hiroyoshi Noto. You can find a used copy on Amazon.

I can confirm this is correct, as someone who took this course when I was an undergraduate!
