Japanese programs; Gettysburg vs. Earlham

My son is trying to decide between Gettysburg and Earlham. He will be a Japanese studies major. We know both have excellent programs, but does anyone out there have any information that would that would aid in his decision?

They’re both very different in vibe.
Gettysburg has a big Greek (fraternities/sororities) culture, is rather conservative and pre-professional, although history (obviously) and English are strong.
Earlham has no fraternity/sorority, is more liberal, and more “save the world” in outlook.17% of the student body is international and thanks to a generous grant from United World College and the Davis Foundation they are a privileged destination for these young international scholars. However Gettysburg is also a UWC partner, with about a dozen UWC scholars enrolled last year I think.

Thank you! I guess we really need to visit them both. My son is transferring so has a bit more time to decide. Socially and politically Earlham seems a better fit, but Gettysburg students seem very happy and it has so much to offer!
