Yeah my question is related to staplers'. Is it worth it to attend Summer Bridge? How much is it anyways. Do most people get the flyer about this program already since obviously I was not even aware of this until my friend ask me about it today.

staplers:

I'm not sure. Maybe a dozen students at most? The school will definitely be dead compared to the normal school year. Summer session is held though so you'll see people. check out the link.

The summer brdige program is a good way to get a head start on things. I would recommend it if you want to get into academics asap or you need to do something productive during the summer besides working. It's about 100 dollars plus books and stuff. Everything else is paid =]. Check out the link.

up until today, has anybody been able to sign up for placement tests? and also, have you guys gotten any packet from uci since the SIR deadline (for example, housing contract, or any other mail?)

Heres a question, about orientation for a freshman, does it matter if i go to the first one or the absolute last one?.. i plan to go to the 1 day session, but because of summer job, i may not be able to make the earlier sessions, will this affect anything?

my parents are worried that if i go to the last one, or the later ones that i will not get the classes i need or something to that effect, as it is this way for Community College.

BTW my major is nursing science, so i thought that i was on track and guaranteed my classes...is this true?

Thanks!

EDIT: Also, for the one day session, from what time to what time is it?...can i go at 7 and leave by 12?...or is it really from 7am-5pm

thanks

All students have their own enrollment windows. You do not register during orientation so it doesn't matter which one you go to.

There is no garuntee you will get all the classes you want but the ones for your major will be easy to get into since they are large (math, bio, chem).

Orientation is crucial to your transition to UCI. Otherwise you will get lost in the process which you are likely to if you do not know much about college. However SPOP is not mandatory, so you can attend your particular school's orientation which does not take the whole day. If you go to minispop and leave early, you'll be wasting your time.

what do you mean "all students have their own enrollment windows"? where are we supposed to log in so that we can register for both placement tests and orientation????

the testing office is driving me crazy, cuz they never seem to agree on which day to start receiving registrations for placement testing...arghhh

o co0l , another chex person =D

chexican2:

Orientation will tell you everything about enrolling. Your windows will begin mid-august. Here is a link for the placement tests:

It's pretty self explanatory...What seems to be the problem with everyone and registering for placement tests? I dont' remember what I did, but I obviously did it so easily/quickly that I don't remember.

before i took my calculus ap test, i wrote down uci as a school in which they send the score to.BUTTTTTTT i think i got a really low score, do they care if you send them a score of a 2 on a calc ap test?????

Buddy:

They do not care at all whether you passed or failed AP tests. Don't even worry about it. If you do end up passing it, then you get elective credits for a 3 and class credit for a 4/5. So basically you only can gain something from taking AP tests.

i know commuter parking is hell, but how is resident parking? are there any problems dorm-ers face if they bring their car along with them to school?

eonxblue:

Resident parking is no problem (UCI frehsman population is growing so it might be worse for you). I always have a parking spot near my dorm. There are a considerable amount of open spaces.

buddy

totally agree with you. Im still mad at how much they changed the ap calc test this year. I was so ready for it, it was supposed to be the easiest ap test for me. apparently, i dont even know if im gonna pass it anymore.

What did they change in the ap calc test over last year?
I didn't notice any big changes from the practice tests that I took.
I did bomb the free response, but I think I still should have passed AB if not BC.

ntohing changed on the AP exam...

well nothing changed in terms of context..
its the same type of problems....just a bit harder ( on the free response part)
i have taken several exams from past 20 years....this one was definitely harder..

i know what you mean i took practice test from 1989-2002 and this test was nothing like them

At least it's graded on curve. I did pretty well on the BC multiple choice, but really bombed the FR.

it was the same type of stuff, just harder like mj said.

it wasnt anything impossible or too difficult

umm i forgot to take the analytical writing tests . i went on the site it didnt have a date to take the writing tests accept on the 12th (the day i missed) so what do i do now?
