jas0n's Official UCI Q&A Thread

hockeydemon05:

All engineering is impacted at UCI.

dunno if this was mentioned before.. but hows the weather in irvine during the fall and winter?

Highs around 80 from sept-end of of october.
After that its like Highs for 75 to Lows of 48.
Sometimes in winter the Highs drop a lot, but generally at night its sticks around 45-55.

My move in day was supposed to be today from 10:00-3:00.

I can't move in today.. can I move my stuff in on Monday?

^^Ignore that!!

I found the answer to my question in my housing packet.

where do i get my parking permit?

You can order it from www.parking.uci.edu and have them mail it in. I think I got it two days later.

Also, is the first day of Welcome Week required? It says the New Student Convocation is required for all new students but I remember reading in this thread that welcome week is optional.

yea it's optional, they say mandatory because if they say optional no one would go

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you think it's necessary to go? I'm a civil engineer major. I have work tomorrow so if the new student convocation and dean's engineering welcome isn't really important, I won't skip work.

Know the way to the closest bike shop?

Where exactly is HSLH 100A?

Selina: HSLH is 100A is Howard Schneiderman Lecture Hall and I'm guessing that's room 100A in the hall. For more abbreviations, check out...http://www.reg.uci.edu/uci/rooms/.

Hope this helps.

Selina:

that building is opposite the science library on ring road. You will have to walk up the steps to get into the lecture hall, and there is only one. the building is number 501 on the uci map.

this site also helps: http://www.uci.edu/campusmaps.shtml

~kadya

Do UC's look at all your SAT 2 scores?(not just the 2). If so, do they weigh (compare) them all differently? My dream college is UCI, and Kadya seems nice so this is a good place to look for answers at. :)

Thanks!!!!

XeN0cidE:

The way UCs usually take SAT scores into account by adding them together. For example, UCSD and UCD add up all SAT scores together and turn them into points (UCSD takes 80% of the total). UCI most likely does the same. In a sense, the SAT2s are 2/3 the weight of SAT1s.

I was wondering if a person took both the SAT I and the ACT and got higher on the ACT, does Irvine count the higher test? Do we have to put both scores on the admissions application?

All UCs will take the higher of the two to factor into admissions.

yea i don't know where building dbh is for psych fund discussion could someone please help....oh and are skateboards allowed in classes likes lectures, etc.?

Thanks jas0n :3
I was wondering if you could chance me on Irvine someday? :D
