Unfortunately, I do not know anyone who is trying to pick up the concentration. A lot of information can be found about it in the UCI catalogue. Here's an excerpt that can answer a lot of your questions:

"The concentration in Game Culture and Technology is available to students majoring in Information and Computer Science, Informatics, Computer Science, and Studio Art. It exposes advanced students to an influential and expanding sector of media culture and contemporary art and technology practice, facilitates students' media literacy in relation to an increasingly prevalent art and entertainment form, and enables students to be more critical consumers and producers of new media art and culture."

The majors that are listed are the majors that UCI allows to students to pick up this concentration with. Your degree will be for your major (Informatics, Studio Art, CompSci), and you'll probably have the concentration printed on your degree.

As you read, only 12 students are accepted into this concetration per year so it should be fairly competitive. The reason behind it can be read in the catalogue with the link provided.

Heeello... I got accepted into UCI and I plan on going to the open house thingy... what should I do before and when I get there? Where do I go? Thanks in advance! :D

I'm not too sure. I haven't been to one but I'll definitely be on campus while it's taking place. I guess just bring walking shoes. Other than that, this question is a bit too general for me to answer.

Here's a site with this year's schedule. You can find next year's on here also. Take note of the dates indicating "Instruction Begins" and "Final Examinations" to see the start and end dates.

During orientation you will be given a presentation from your counselors to help you create your schedules. My advice is to just get what you need for freshman year and worry about the rest when you get on campus. When on campus you can make appointments with the counselors whenever you want.

Would you consider the school to be very laid back? Im sorta looking for a school where you can have run, be spontaneous and almost radical. (I swear i'm looking to be suspended ;D) You think UCI has a place for radicals such as myself?

When signing up for classes, do the people in the first orientations have access to the classes first? Does it matter when you go to orientation? Will the people who go to later orientations end up with the 8:00 classes?

UCI does feel a bit laid back. UCI isn't very politically active, but if you want to run around like a chicken noone is stopping you. It's college =P.

84Bruin:

Signing up for classes is not done by orientation, it is done by windows assigned to you. You'll be given a window and instructions on how to access it later.

BTW, I second Sir. Loinsteak's notion. Go to full SPOP!
