@canusa I am from Charlotte. I am very excited for the dinner. My advice would be not to bring your parent. The counselor at my school who runs the JS says that many parents can overshadow their nominee and hurt their chances without meaning to. I hope to meet you there!

I’m from SE Virginia and have a regional quarter finalist interview Dec. 31 in Charlottesville, any one else from my region? I think it’s referred to as “Central VA”?
From NY - just received an email confirming I was selected for an interview.
If you have not been selected for a regional interview, is it safe to assume that you have been rejected Uva EA? I know decisions are not out yet for applicants, but maybe admissions sends them to chairmen?
My son has not been invited to any reception, but it may be that our region is somewhat small?
My son had his regional interview on Sunday and there was no indication whether there would be a second round or what the next steps might be. If anyone gets further notice about this, please post!
@zd4589 I don’t think so, I know someone who was selected for an interview last year and moved on to the second round but ended up getting rejected EA. @pdxcwa My region did not have a reception either. I’m sure it’s not something to worry about!
@pdxcwa Charlotte has so many nominees that they just want to somewhat meet you beforehand because the interview is so long. It’s a really large region.
@KYF4CK I believe there are 73 schools eligible to nominate in the Charlotte region, although I can’t imagine all of them actually did?
Surprised I didnt find this before as I did a few searches on CC. Hmmm… Anyhow, our son is a nominee. He just had a group interview a few days ago and now comes the wait for word about whether he makes the next round.
The scholarships are given by regional alumni groups, not by UVA. UVA admissions is not tied to the Jeff Scholars process so no, you dont need to assume you have not gotten in EA if you have not advanced with the scholarship process. EA decisions have not been released.
On the other hand, if you do get rejected EA, you have reached the end of the line with the scholarship.
