Hi everyone, my first post here. I'm a finalist from Maryland and thought we could use a thread to talk about the competition and the upcoming Selection Weekend in March. I'm really looking forward to it, any other finalists out there?

Hi, I’m not a finalist, but I know someone who is. We’re in Maryland too actually! Making it this far is something to be very proud of. From what I’ve heard the Selection Weekend seems a little nerve-wracking - it sounds almost like you’re all on a game show. Good luck to you and everyone else who’s made it this far!

I’m a finalist from Virginia. Congrats on the selection! I bet you’re as exited as I am. As for now, I have nothing to say about the weekend except that I’m really looking forward to the whole experience and meeting all the other finalists. I’ve been told it’s a humbling weekend. Maybe we will have more to discuss as the reading materials arrive in the mail. I hope this thread picks up a little steam and I will be checking back in periodically. Congrats again, Colleginator.

Hello all,

I’m a finalist from Florida! Glad that there is a place here where we can talk and exchange ideas. Does anybody know any details about the written evaluation portion of the finalist competition in March? That’s the part I’m most worried about; not usually that good at writing under pressure!

Congrats to all of you! You’re going to have a great time at Selections Weekend.

Hello, everyone! Congrats! I’m a finalist from Pennsylvania. I’m also excited for the weekend and to meet all of youI’m sure you’re all really interesting. I haven’t found any details about the written evaluation. The schedule is up on our Foundation pages, though, if you haven’t seen it.

Do any of you jog or run (or want to start)? I’m looking for a group to run in the mornings or evenings while we’re there.

Congratulations again and good luck!

I’m a finalist from Ohio. I am really
excited to visit UVa again and meet the other finalists. Good luckto you all!

^^ And I’d love to run with you! I’ll bring my shoes.

Awesome! I can’t wait for this.

Hey FBLAer, I’ll join you guys. Probably in the evenings, I’m not exactly a morning person.

Great! I could go half an hour after the last event of the day (eating light). What day are you all arriving?

So excited to meet you all! I’m from Colorado!

OK. So who ended up being who on this thread? I was Jeremy from FL. I’m guessing the last post was Sean!

Congrats & Welcome to all the new 33 Jefferson Scholars!

(I was going to post the link about you guys, but then I realized that some of you may not want to reveal your identities here on CC. So, congrats nonetheless!)

Maybe you’d like to make a private fb group to get to know each other over the summer? I agree that you want to keep your anonymity here on a public forum.

Congratulations to all those that interviewed along the way, and the final selections. It’s an incredible honor to be involved in the process IMHO. Best of luck to all!!

Hi everyone! Im a finalist from Virginia. Selection weekend is next month. Any tips, advice, suggestions or words about the experience and how to do well in it in general? Thanks!

ivymatt, I’m a finalist from VA too! What region? Any idea how many in-state finalists are typically there? I can’t believe its only a month away.

For anyone attending the Finalist Weekend at the end of the month,

I wish my counselor had nominated me for this… our school could only nominate one person, and it was someone else. u__u
