JES scholarship evaluations...and SAT scores?

ack, I just called the admissions office and they said that they haven't started making decisions about the scholarship apps yet. Why is the deadline Nov 1st if they're not going to evaluate them till late December? >.<

Anyway, I took the SATs again in December and didn't bother to send them my scores because I assumed it would be too late, but apparently it's not? So, I guess I wanted to rant a bit, and also...I'm wondering if anyone here knows if Scripps looks at the writing portion of the SAT, since I feel guilty about calling the admissions office so much. Basically, with the combined scores from last June and December, I would have a 2400 (as opposed to 1540/2220 from June). But, I don't know if it's worth it to rush my scores now, since admissions said that they evaluate the JES candidates around Jan 3rd (Jan 3rd?? They're supposed to mail them out Jan 7th!!). Would rushing my scores be too late, and would it really make a significant difference?

sorry for your frustration! The only help I can give you is to tell you that as of now they do not use the Writing portion of the SAT. I don't think it could hurt to have your scores sent again but I don't know if it will help either. Best of luck!!

I've heard that the JES scholarship is quite numbers-based. Just hearsay, but hey. A year or two ago, reliable rumors suggested that the average SAT of recipients was around or just over 1500/1600. So, you're already in an excellent position, but if you can boost your scores, it can't possibly hurt you.

If you don't want to call again, you could email admissions...let them know you have updated scores but aren't sure if they'll still be relevant to the process, and ask whether it would be alright if you sent them along.

Good luck :)
