<p>is it an advantage to have that personal statement in the Common app? Or will the admissions people view my JHU app (without personal statement) and just the two essays just as equally. </p>
<p>Also, in the common app, if i played a year of JV basketball and two years of Varisty basketball, am i only allowed to put Basketball in two years then? or how do i account for the year of JV basketball...</p>

<p>There is no advantage / disadvantage given to which ever essays you submit when applying with the Common Application. We do like to see the JHU essays, but they are not required when completing the Common Application.</p>
<p>As for your other minor issues, this is your own choice. Most people will mark down 4 years of basketball and denote 2 years JV and 2 years Varsity.</p>
