Hey, I am accepted into the JHU BME. I also got into Penn State, Vandy, Drexel, Univ. Florida, Univ Miami, USF 7-year med, Rensselaer.

Where should I go? I want to go into medicine. Which school would be the best pre-med and be better for med. school admissions.

I really want to go to JHU, but I heard that it is hard to get a good GPA there b/c of grade deflation. I think I can pull it off but still want input.

To me this is an easy one. USF 7-year med. You're already in Medical school! The only reason not to do it is if your not certain you want to be a doctor.

If you're absolutely 100% positive that you want to go into medicine and work as a practicing physician in the future, then maybe the USF program is the best for you in terms of guaranteed medical school admission.

On the other hand, if you're not so sure about your plans and want to leave your options open while getting an strong engineering (and/or liberal arts) education, then going to Hopkins sounds like the best plan. Maybe you'll decide after 4 years at Hopkins that you want to consider doing research, working in the medical device industry, or practicing in a novel area of medicine like pacemakers or something like that - areas that you'll be able to do because of your BME experience.

Personally, I would choose the latter option. There's no way I'm certain what I want to do 5, 10 or 15 years down the line. It feels like the USF program "ties" your freedom to explore up.

Well, I want to go JHU mainly because I got into the BME. JHU is a well known name, and I think that after undergrad. I would have a chance to go to a good med school and not USF. Maybe since I live in Tampa, I think that USF is an alright school. I know people from my IB school who just slacked off all 4 years and they got in too. So USF doesn't seem like a great school. It seems wierd to turn down JHU BME for USF. Any opinions?

If I were you, I would definately go to USF. C'mon, you're guaranteed to become a doctor if you just keep up with the work. But at JHU, with grade deflation and competition similar to Berkeley's, it's not easy to survive to go to medical school. You might change your mind doing something else rather than being a doctor. JHU can turn you down. I would recommend you going to USF.

true 7 year programs are really good because of the guarentee
a ton of people dont even make it to small medical schools since competition is so large. think about it, some med schools (notably JHU's) accept 120 people... and how many people are competing? a ton.
go with the guarenteed admission.

about the grade deflation thing, its not as bad as Berkeley or Cornell and stuff. its still hard to pull off a good grade though
