***JHU class of 2018 RD discussion thread***

@Phoenix55555 ah gotcha, good luck with all your decisions tho! Hope the best works out for both us, keep me updated tomorrow!

Does anyone know how hard Vanderbilt is to get in, just wondering… I didnt do as much research on it as I did on the Ivies and such lol

For those asking about BME admit rates:

I don’t have a link, but I recall reading on their site that in a recent year, 1/3 of accepted applicants got a seat in the BME program. If I had to guess, that’s 5%-7%.

@immasenior thanks that’s really helpful! Also @phoenix55555 I’m in the same boat as you, the only two schools I’m waiting on (that I’m still considering) are JH and Vanderbilt, if not I’m going to university of Illinois for engineering. Fingers crossed guys and good luck!!!

I’m so excited about tomorrow, but I’m not sure if I’ll go to Hopkins. I really just want to go there for medical school. I’ve been excepted into Princeton, Duke, UVA, Spelman, Howard, and Virginia State by the way.

We’re you accepted based on malapropistic conventions? :P

I got into dartmouth today, but JHU is one of my top choices. Do you think my acceptance has any correlation with hopkins???

@iloverainbowsyo lol m8 are you fishing for compliments?
there’s never a causation but there’s a correlation.
if you got into dartmouth chances are you’re a highly qualified applicant

Any one has any idea about when the decision will come out today?

3pm est

does anyone know if the majority of students for incoming class are from regular decision?

I was rejected from 9 schools yesterday. JHU, Stanford, and Georgetown are my last hopes or I’m screwed.

Oh yeah, now that we’re putting in all the schools we didn’t get into, I’ll join in. I got rejected by Harvard SCEA, Princeton, Yale, Dartmouth, Duke, Colgate, University Of Richmond and waitlisted at Hamilton, Middlebury, Colby and Bates. If I don’t get into JHU, Amherst or Tufts tomorrow, I’m screwed. I’m not so optimistic since I’m an international asking for a lot of FinAid. I might end up going for college in another country or settling for a really cheap college in the US.

Don’t be down people, none of you have it worse as I do and I’m still smiling  stay strong!

I got waitlisted from william and mary 2 days ago but surprisingly got into Boston College. Today is a nervous day for sure…JHU, Gw, and NYU. goodluck everyone:)

Did you guys all apply to like 20+ schools or something?

@TheCrazyDude: Although I didn’t get as many rejections as you (I didn’t apply to a lot of reach schools), I still deeply sympathize with you. I’m a middle class international student, and it sucks that we get almost no aid, or else we get outrightly rejected even if we have the stats. Today I got 2 decisions: one was a rejection from Cornell, and the other was a waitlist from Emory. It seems we internationals have a magnetic needle for college rejections. meh.

Anyways to all of the rejected and dejected international students, don’t give up. You guys are probably all incredibly intelligent individuals who just had the bad circumstances of lacking finances.

Good luck to you all!

Has anyone heard of the term Safety School?

@bonee26 there’s no such thing as safety schools for internationals who can’t afford the high tution of the US colleges. Anyways my safeties lie in other countries.

@TheCrazyDude I completely agree with you. As soon as you check apply for need based aid, your possibility goes straight down… I also got a lot of rejections…Hope to hear good news from JHU, Amherst,Swarthmore and Vanerbilt

Good luck to everyone! Can’t wait for you all to come be Blue Jays with us next fall!

Good luck everyone! Rejected by 5 yesterday
