Will direct legacy such as parents have a big hook if the student has competent stats?

No. (filler)

big hook: no.
but jhu does place a value on legacies.

^As do most private universities.

Wasnt judging…just saying.

I’ve read The selection committee feels like legacies have a better understanding of the culture. That’s the hook.

There is no hook for legacy, unless you’re related to the Krieger family, Bloomberb, or a big time donor or your parent is an extremely extremely active alumni in the community its like a shrug.

The admissions office will say that legacy will be considered but that it is a very minor factor (I.e., a tiebreaker type thing). I can’t disprove that but have observed that quite a few legacies do get admitted. There is a legacy function during orientation that is always well attended.
