No, I do not think that going to U Michigan would put you behind U Chicago and JHU graduates in the work force. Take it from a U Chicago graduate who works for a Michigan State graduate. Where I work, Ivy Leaguers routinely work for state school grads. Please, do not decide on that basis. Michigan is a great school.

I suggest that you look into Umich or JHU a little more. The benefit of Michigan is of course the cost but also it is one on the top public school of the nation. I believe that JHU has one of the best medicine departments in the nation. Why I am leading towards those two school is that the college experince isnt solely based on academics. You said it yourself that you wanted a balance of social/academics...well I heard the social life is at UChic is pretty bland. There is saying like "Social life goes to die in UChicago" or something like that (dont quote me). If you like football, big student pop, and good academics, pick UMich. The social life is aright at JHU but better than UChicago, and I would love to go to JHu. But dont have the grades... :( Oh yeah, If you like strong academic reputation and small student body, pick JHU. All of those school are top notch but you have to see what is best for you.

If I were you, I would pick JHU...But Im sorta bias since I might go to OSU.. GO Buckeyes :P

GL on your decision and Hope you made the right choice
