JHU vs. WUST vs. Emory where should I go??

I'm currently aspiring to become a medical scientist, most likely an epidemiologist (sp?).

Between Johns Hopkins University, Washington University in St. Louis, and Emory, where should I go? I am personally leaning towards Emory just because of the quality of life is considered so much better. But if the other schools can give me a significantly better education, I'll go there...

Where do you think I should go?

Johns Hopkins University.

All 3 are excellent choices for your career and have comparable prestige, education quality and research opportunities (incredible at all 3). JHU has slight edge on prestige.

From other perspectives though JHU looses against Emory and Wustl, namely undergraduate focus, campus beauty and safety, dorms, food, social life. Wustl is better then Emory in terms of organization, dorms and food, and it is easier to double-major there, but they are very close.

I would cross JHU out and pick between other two if you want to have 4 great years of your life and good education. Have you visited ?

Got to WashU. Its a balance between prestige (JHU) and Emory (social life). You'll get about as good an education as JHU and have about as much fun as at Emory.

i eliminated jhu because it seemed to cuthroat of an environment, had an ugly campus, and seemed focused on grad students, i personally just didn't like wustl, it is an amazing campus though and has great placement, but so does emory ummmm...... this probably wont help but students at wash. u jokingly wear shirts that say "Emory was my safety school" lol

Alright, so no one has recommended that I go to Emory... seems that those who favor prestige recommend JHU, while those who prefer a more enjoyable college experiance recommend WUST.

Now let me alter the question slightly to more accurately reflect reality:
I need to take out a $30,000 loan to go to JHU or WUST, while I can go to Emory for $3,000 (need-based financial aid for annual income of $27,000).

Yeah, there was a problem with my financial aid at JHU and WUST, so i didn't get any aid.

You should definitely go to Emory considering the financial situation. There is no need to take out so much debt for WUSTL or JHU. JHU's environment isn't supposed to be great (although it's the most prestigious of the three), and I think WUSTL is on the same level as Emory in many areas.

i vote WUSTL. It seems nifty

Emory - JHU and WUSL are not worth the extra cash.

That financial aide is wonderful! But if finances are not an issue, then go to JHU.

Do you think it's ok for me just to go to Emory and then go to a place like JHU for Graduate school??

What is the chance that I can go to JHU grad from Emory Ugrad if I work hard??

definitely Emory with that financial package if money is a concern.

Changed my tune now:

EMORY!!! Not worth the difference in cost for WashU and JHU. Emory is only a level worse than those two, which borders on insignificant. Add in CDC access, a good social life, and the cost difference and its a no brainer for me.. Heck, 10 years ago WashU and Emory were ranked at the same level.

Emory, no question. That is a fantastic financial aid package- congratulations. Yes, of course you can get into JHU grad school from Emory.

JHU, abundunt opportunities due mainly to adjoining JHU medical school

With your interests, why on EARTH would you choose another school over Emory?!?!? Johns Hopkins has a good public health major, true, but Emory has the CDC literally next door, which houses the EIS! Many of the CDC scientists conduct research and teach at Emory. You'd have resources at your fingertips that you simply wouldn't have elsewhere.

http://www.cdc.gov/eis/

Johns Hopkins has the best public health major/public health school, hands down, period....by far #1 over others, including Harvard.

but if money is the issue, then Emory is not a bad 2nd choice. washu is out if you ask me.
