Jimmy Awards?

Is anyone watching?

Great talent last night and fun to watch streaming. I picked different winners , but all were terrific. But I am confused about the Tisch $10,000 check. Does that mean they will be attending New Studio On Broadway? Or can it be used for any college?

I didn’t watch this year as I was at the Dora Awards in Toronto. The Jimmys are always fun to see and I have been there in person a few times. Lots of talented kids!

Thanks @alwaysamom for the link. I guess I thought these kids were already committed to a college and going in the fall

@Notmath1 - I am sure many are, but it is not all seniors. I know the make nominee from my area, he just completed his junior year in high school

The Tisch scholarship is if you want to attend and I believe there are strings attached. Don’t know all the particulars. You can take the scholarship or not. The girl who won, Renee Rapp, is attending Texas State for Musical Theatre in the fall. I do not know about Andrew Feldman, who was the boy winner.

@MTDadandProud Those "strings"are probably getting in to NYU academically. But isn’t June too late to apply?

Yes, June is too late to apply for September entry. The link I provided above gives the details. They still have to go through the usual application and artistic review process, and be admitted to Tisch. These are the ‘strings’ which aren’t really strings because the scholarship is from and for Tisch, not for any other school. :slight_smile:

I picked both winners!

And that boy was just amazing!

Andrew is going to be a senior this year. He also got the summer scholarship to Carnegie Mellon.

@itsmebutterfly I heard he was a rising junior. I must have old information. That would be really young to win. Did he get one of the Carnegie early offers?

@Notmath1 It’s a scholarship to CMU’s six week pre-college summer program.

@alwaysamom I understand that, but don’t they often make offers at the end of the summer term?

Andrew Barth Feldman is a rising high school junior, not senior. Who knows if he is attending the Carnegie Mellon Pre-College Program during summer of 2018 or summer of 2019? Either way, he would not know at all at this juncture if he will be offered admission to the BFA program at CMU. As well, the pre-college program maybe makes one offer at the end of the summer pre-college program, not multiple offers at that point.

^ He is going to play Evan Hansen on Broadway. Amazing opportunity.
