Jimmy Rane Scholarship

Does anyone have any information on the Jimmy Rane Scholarship? Is it more focused on financial need? or merit? Do you guys know anyone who was selected/awarded?

GAMOM2013,
Thank you for your interest in the Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship. Both merit and financial aid factor into the selection of Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholars – the Foundation was established to help “kids in the middle!” In order to be eligible for the Jimmy Rane Foundation scholarship, an applicant must be at least a graduating senior and no older than 20 years of age before August 1, 2013. All high school applicants must have and maintain at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. All college applicants must have a 2.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must be a resident of the following states and the District of Columbia: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Delaware and New Jersey.

Since its establishment, the Jimmy Rane Foundation has awarded over 200 college scholarships totaling over $1 million dollars. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years, or eight semesters.

Have semifinalists been notified?

I applied, and have not been notified either way just yet. I’m hoping by Monday they will send emails to semi finalist!

I was notified that I am a semifinalist on February 26th. I was surprised to have found out so quickly considering I had submitted my application only a week prior.

Has anyone heard anything back from the Jimmy Rane foundation? Any semifinalist notifications? I thought April 15 was the date.

Semifinalists were notified on February 26th, or at least that is when I was notified. Winners are supposed to be notified in April, but so far I haven’t heard anything.

Thank you hwilges, did they ask you for a FASFA or anything on Feb 26? We submitted all that info when the original application was submitted. I don’t see anything on their webpage yet, or on the facebook page.

The only thing I had to submit after finding out I was a semifinalist was my SAR report from the FAFSA. The deadline to submit that was March 8th.

Bummer - received our rejection email yesterday.

I also received a rejection letter yesterday.

Rejected too, oh well :/

Keep trying though eescahs, that is what we are doing. We are waiting to hear back from several local scholarships. And we will go through this again next year, while working to apply for scholarships. Good luck to you.
