JJusstt got accepted. Already thinking about internal transfer.

into Stern from CAS. Do any of you NYUers know if this is possible. Technically no, but Ive heard that a verrrryy select few students are allowed. Keep in mind I am VERY motivated and not afraid to talk to whoever I need to get where I want to be.

Thanks.

You have to wait an academic year before you’re eligible to transfer.

HOWEVER, since you’re ED, I would get your parents to call Admissions and see if there is still time for you to switch.

did you get accepted today?

@ missam
I’m a transfer student. (will be 2nd sem sophomore in Jan).
@beegee
no I was notified a while ago. but the thought hit me recently.

The reason being. My grades just came out for this semester (fall09). straight A’s. Not a single A- . And not joke courses either (had statistics, macroecon, etc etc).

I did see that it says stern does NOT accept transfers from students who transferred from another school. Or so it says…(?)

well, they’re pretty firm on the “once you transfer, you’re bound to the college you applied to” thing.

there were a few transfers from CAS at the stern transfer orientation, you should definitely take a chance.

no, Ao, the snag is that transfer students are supposed to stay in the school they applied to for a certain length of time. that’s what they told me in Steinhardt, anyway.

i would just call admissions and get a firm answer on whether you would even be eligible to transfer to Stern from CAS. do you really think you would be happier in Stern? or do you just want to try because you feel you are a more competitive applicant now?

i think they have to stay in the school for a year, because there were like 2 internal transfers at the sophomore orientation. You’re in a weird position though, since you will be coming in spring '10 as a second semester sophomore. Transfer applications for Stern are only for fall semester however, so you would have to wait till fall '11? and by then you would be a senior…You could talk to your adviser upon arrival and maybe do really well for your first two semesters and appeal for entrance into Stern for Spring '11.
