This is interesting! When did you fill out the General Application for scholarships? My daughter completed that on Tues. but we did not receive a follow up email
He applied Early action and was admitted. He filled out scholarship am on MyMadison about 2 weeks. I think for Honors College it was separate application but honestly can’t remember anymore:)
Does anyone think decisions for honors may come out today? I say this because today is two weeks since EA decisions and jmu honors tweeted decisions will be released soon a while ago
They told me this week but not sure if it will be today.
D accepted to honors college today. Does anyone know if being admitted to the honors college generally means you can expect a merit scholarship award too?
Portal updated today - my son was accepted to Honors College!
Yippee my son also accepted
Son was accepted to Honors College!
Did your Honors Applications show up separately in your portal as an application separate from the main appication? I applied, but have nothing that shows that now. Are those who were not accepted getting any notification?
Looks like most of them are needs based Honors College Scholarships - JMU
S got admitted to honors! So excited!
@LawyerMom15 the honors application shows up separately from the admissions application in the portal. You can see both when you click on applications. Honors changed from pending to admitted today.
Did anyone receive an email from JMU Honors College with decision or was it just in myMadison portal?
D is in! So excited!
S did not
D is HC JR at JMU was told today only 200 accepted. Be proud of those that got in but for those deferred do not lose hope. Many admitted rolling because of matriculation
My daughter checked the portal this morning and she was accepted to JMU Honors! Anxiously waiting on merit, including DIngledine Scholarship. Hopefully there will be some communication soon on the finalists. We would need merit to attend as it is currently her most expensive option.
Mine was deferred. Just more waiting! Ugh, this is all so torturous.
@Keeks88 did your daughter live in the honors dorm at JMU? D was looking last night and isn’t sure she would want to. She likes the idea of being on the other side of the highway. Does your daughter have an opinion on which is better? Thanks!
@PizzaDad100 we’re in the same situation. I’m not optimistic, but holding out hope we get some kind of merit to make it doable!
@NJWrestlingmom She did…BUT entering members of class of '22 did NOT have choice/lottery time slot to pick their dorms. She had matched with a non HC roommate that was open to living in Shenandoah and given the guaranteed newer dorm with A/C and Ehall being the nicest dining hall prior to recent Dhall renovations it was the safe choice for her…she spent much of her time with friends she made that lived in Village which despite no A/C in rooms is a very popular area…but always nice to have your ‘home’ and alternate place to escape to…now that class of '25 has lottery choice was discussing with her recently and ultimately per the new normal Covid will be a huge factor in my son’s choice of dorm…The restrictions have ebbed and flowed but for a bulk of the past year no outside visitors were allowed to come in others dorms…common areas (lounges/study rooms) had limited capacity. East campus is nice for proximity to URec, but what is her major? East campus is home to Science, ISAT, IT classrooms mostly so if she is not in that lane might prefer to be more on the main campus…that being said another major Covid change was moving classes around to different locations to make sure large enough rooms for social distancing and instead of the usual 15 minute separate JMU put a least a 30 minute break between classes to allow time for sanitization…so many classes were move over to Festival and other East campus classrooms accordingly…so for late and long reply but hopefully helpful
