JMU or too low?

I guess the standards are higher for out of state students coz I know several that were rejected with high stats. My d was accepted with 1200 SATs but she had a 4.0 GPA and top 10% rank. You should apply early action (it's not binding). The kids that were rejected all applied reg decision and I think that hurt them. The admissions person really stressed taking the hardest classes and getting As in them. I think my d's grades got her in.

Every admissions person stresses taking the hardest classes and getting A's in them.................one of my classmates got into JMU with a 3.3 and a 990 SAT, this is true!

I really don't have anything against JMU. It's just that up until recently, it was considered Virginia's "safety school". This is also true. I stand by the fact that although it's a popular school for Virginia residents, it is not that hard to get into. Look on their website and check out the Freshman class of 2004 profile. Yeah they say 3.6 Average GPA but look at the average SAT's. It's a very GPA driven school regardless of the difficulty of curriculum. The average SAT scores make that crystal clear....................

wow, we have like the same exact stats. neat.

i completely agree with pedsox. Bring up your SAT to a 1400 and with the 3.9 you would be a well rounded candidate for UVA

My SATs are 690 Reading 680 Math, I am from Northern Virginia. My college/career councelor said that I am in the upper range of UVA. So I am sure you should be fine. But I think it is a bit harder for out of state people to get in....not too sure.
