I'm an incoming freshmen and I am wondering if there are any jobs on or around the campus I can look into?

First of all, do you have work-study eligbility in your finaid? If you do you’re in luck. Using your CalNet ID you can sign in to [UC Berkeley Work-Study Program](http://workstudy.berkeley.edu/) and find a (constantly updated) listing of employers on- or off-campus looking for cheap and reliable labor, lol. Basically work-study means that the gov pays half of your earnings, and your employer pays the other half. For FAQs, go to [Work-Study Office - Students’ Frequently Asked Questions](http://workstudy.berkeley.edu/Work-Study%20FAQ.htm).

If you don’t have work-study, jobs at a campus library are your best bet since they have so many openings year-round. Go to [Library Student Employment - UC Berkeley](CAS - Central Authentication Service) and to read more and look at job postings. I have some friends working at Moffitt and Main Stacks, two popular undergrad libraries. You shelve books, check in and check out books, maintain collections, etc.

I do qualify for work study. Do I keep the money from work-study or does it only cover my tuition? How much does work study and the job at the library pay?

100% of work-study earnings goes to you. Once in your paycheck / bank account, it could be used to pay (none, part, all of) your tuition. Given the reasoning behind work-study’s existence, most work-study students will do that.

Most work-study wages range from $10 to $14 depending on skill. Library employees get around $10 and more if they get promoted to work leader. You can get more info from the job listings.

^ Thank you

my 5 year old cousin could design a better website than the work study website…
