Jobs in Economics and Finance

Hello all,
To give you a little background, I am a double major in Econ and Finance at a state school. I get very good grades, am highly involved, and am studying abroad this summer. I always thought I wanted to work in the private sector doing investment type work on Wall Street or something of that nature, but lately I have been interested in possibly working for the government or doing something outside the private sector. I have always had a great interest in politics and have looked up internships with the Department of State in DC. If anyone has any ideas of jobs that would fit me or areas of work that I could get into, it would be greatly appreciated. Any ideas that I could do research on to see if I would enjoy would be great.

Thanks!

I majored in management (switched from econ) and finance and used to see a lot of recruiting events from the CIA for political and clandestine analysts. I also knew of a few friends who interned in the NYC mayor’s office. I worked on a data project for the NYC Dept of Education as part of an extracurricular during my spring semester as well. If you don’t have a lot of internship experience yet, looking into metropolitan city departments might be a way to bolster your applicants for DC internships.
