Decision Time

Hey everyone,

First post here, I've been rummaging through the forums trying to get some help with choosing a concentration within my business school. I am a freshman at a pretty good undergraduate business program and within the next week I need to choose a concentration, but I really don't know what to pick.

So, main question here is what types of jobs one can get/apply for with an Economics degree. I enjoy economics, have taken two classes regarding the subject, and really think I want to major in it, but I don't know what jobs Economics majors go on to have. If anyone has a website that can help me find some info on this, or has some info on what an Economics major goes on to do, that would be great. Thanks.

Google economics careers

I would focus on finance or accounting. Finance is a great career, and if you enjoy economics, you will enjoy finance as well.

Not everyone has to be a finance/acctg major. Most business students have majors outside those concentrations.

I would imagine an economics degree would open up research, banking, teaching positions; and you’d probably be qualified for positions that accept general business majors. If I were you, I’d talk to my career center to find out about your school’s econ program and its job placement and at which companies students are placed.
