I've been accepted to the Summer 2010 term for UCF. I was wondering how easy/dificult it's been for people to get jobs on campus. I really want to get a job on campus because they don't take taxes out of your earnings. Of course, there are a myriad of other reasons... but either way, does anyone know anything about the UCF job market? Also, if jobs are hard to get at UCF, how about jobs off campus? Are they difficult to get?
Thanks

It might be already too late to get jobs for the summer for most on campus places. I went around asking about three or four weeks ago and they were already getting ready to hire for Fall 2010.

They don’t take taxes out? Really?

My D started last Summer as a freshman. On campus jobs didn’t open up until Fall semester. In order for her to get a work/study on-campus job, she had to check it off when submitting her FAFSA. Once approved, which she is now for Fall 2010, in August when she returns to campus, she’ll go to the office or look online and pick a job, interview, and, hopefully, be hired. She worked via work/study on campus in Fall of her freshman year. In Spring, she was again awarded work study. I think priority is first given to those that have an obvious “need” based on their FAFSA results.

Oh, and work-study IS taxed!!

They post all available jobs on the Financial Aid website.

If you have Work/Study, your chances are a lot higher. Click on “Job Connection” on the list of links on the right hand side.

Note: You might only be able to access the link from on-campus computers.

Hope this helps!

P.S. As of last year, they don’t take taxes out of Work Study income.
