<p>I plan to major in legal studies or political science and eventually go into law school. I might transfer try and transfer to NYU in a couple of years, which I only didn't go to because I can't afford. St. John's is offering me $20,000 cutting the price significantly and John Jay state tuition is around $6,000. Help!</p>

<p>Be aware that to go to law school, History, Political science, etc, is MUCH better than legal studies or criminal justice. In addition, there’s a glut of law school graduates on the market today so that only 1/3 could find a job in law, so it’s only worth it going to Law School if you can get into a Top 30 Law school… which means getting really high grades, getting involved in academic/professional organizations, getting to know your professors well, etc.</p>

John jay would cost anywhere from 12-$18,000 plus room and board. My parents budget isn’t really a concern with these two schools for the most part. But legal studies should not be an option? I’m planning to make a future in politics, I should just stick with political science or history as an undergraduate?</p>

<p>No, legal studies should not be an option. If you want to work in politics, major in political science/government/international relations/history (or a major/minor combination of the above).</p>

<p>They would preferably pay less for school, but paying more wouldn’t be a problem if it was somewhere that would benefit me.</p>
<p>Look at the majors offered at John Jay: if they offer history, political science, etc, go there. Then do your utmost to get to know your professors (go to office hours, speak in class…), use the tutoring center to go from B to A, etc.</p>
<p>Go to John Jay. Like timetodecide12 said. Save that money. And there are pretty good majors for law school guys here.</p>
<p>Where will you recieve the most well rounded education? Where will you learn critical thinking skills and writing skills? There are huge numbers of law school grads that are “clerking”. </p>
