SUNY Albany versus John Jay for Criminal Justice

I'm having a hard time choosing between the two. Both will cost me about the same so that doesn't matter. I want to know which is best for studying criminal justice and also in terms of the general college life at each (dorms, nightlife, etc.)

I wouldn’t recommend a major in Criminal Justice. The job prospects are very poor unless you plan to get into a Police Academy or become a prison warden. If your goal is law school, you’d be better served with a major (and/or minor) in history, philosophy, political science.
John Jay doesn’t really have dorms or a campus, it’s a commuter college for NYC residents. SUNY Albany is one of the state’s flagships and it’s residential.

If you choose CJ as a major then you should look at a graduate program if you want to get into management. Most government CJ jobs as part of the executive branch. Knowledge of business practices and public administration is a plus.
