Hi all, out of my 5 possible choices, I've narrowed my search down to two schools:

St. John's University (NY)
and
John Jay College of Criminal Justice (NY)

Both have what I hope to major in (Criminal Justice/Forensic Psychology), but they are pretty different schools. I've visted both at least once, but I'm having second thoughts now.

SJU is expensive, but if I dorm there it will cost about 17K a year with all financial aid and my merit scholarship considered. I liked the whole atmosphere there, and even though I live about 45 mins away, I think I would live there instead of commute. Plus, a couple of friends might be attending here, so I may be able to dorm with one of them.

John Jay is a very cheap school, running around the 5K mark a year before any type of aid. Even though it's a little bit further than SJU, I would probably commute b/c I didn't really like the dorm situation there...And JJ specializes in Criminal Justice. Surely they have better connections, and a better chance at me finding a job?

Family friends have nothing but good things to say about these schools, but I have heard some really bad things about both too, either around the internet or other people.

I'm just not sure if I'm setting my standards too low. These are safety schools I think, but they do offer what I want to study. I have a 95 average, bit of a low 1650 SAT due to bad math scores on it, and a 27 ACT.

Now I'm not asking anyone to decide for me, but can anyone that has attended/or knows a bit about both please enlighten me? Any comments would be appreciated.

**I plan on visiting both again in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for reading!
