Johns Hopkins ED: class rank / test score discrepancy

I'm planning on applying to JHU early decision, BME (so even more competitive). In this context I have a poor class rank / GPA, so I would like some opinions on this decision to make sure I'm not making a grievous error.

~90/600 class rank (15th percentile)

3.74 unweighted GPA

SAT: 760 reading, 760 math, 770 writing (2290) superscored; national merit semifinalist (finalist TBA)

Succinct elaboration:
- terrible grades freshman year
- all As sophomore year; two Bs junior year

Regarding rigor of curriculum:
- IB diploma candidate
- all core classes were AP or IB
- 7 out of my 8 classes this year are IB classes
- mostly 5s on AP tests (two 4s)
- competitive high school

Extracurriculars:
- robotics president; club participates in FRC & BEST competitions
- varsity athlete

For the sake of brevity and privacy I have omitted common academic awards and unique extracurriculars respectively. If you need more information for an accurate assessment let me know.

Once again, I'd appreciate feedback regarding viability for Johns Hopkins biomedical engineering early decision. Thanks!

chance back

JHU is probably not going to happen with a sub-10% class rank, thats sort of a prerequisite. But you might as well apply ED to increase your chances.
