I thought one of his strongest essays, oh well!
He’s already moved on after I told him about how poorly they handled last year’s waitlist!
Congrats to those who are in!

I saw how horrible they made it for all the waitlisted last year, waiting til end of August, and yet end up getting no one!

Yes, my heart broke for students waiting until August to see if they were admitted. The communication from Hopkins seemed quite poor and a real lack of transparency. Hopefully they’ve got a better process in place this year!

Waitlisted. 4.0 UW, 5.5W, 16 APs, 35 ACT, 1580 SAT, NMF, two varsity sports (all state in soccer), strong recs, national science program. Never visited or probably showed a great deal of demonstrated interest, if that matters.

I agree. If I had to assign temperature ratings for the level of engagement JHU had throughout the admissions process, it was definitely cold. Even some of the Ivies and other schools within JHU’s rankings routinely sent correspondence via email and snail mail. That will make it easy to move on.

Rejected. 3.9/4.7/1570; 5+ years ahead in math, taking partial differential equations now; either dual enrollment or Ap all years except freshman; high school’s math department’s official math tutor; varsity athlete; lots of service; musician; wrote essay about how life is about service to others and community…….hmmmmmm. Writing all this is reminding me about what a nice kid I have and how it’s all going to be fine. Maybe my kid—a humble, introvert, that doesn’t value competition and puts others first—is really not a good fit for the T20 schools and maybe that’s just fine. Congratulations to all the other rock stars who got in! And to those who didn’t, maybe there’s something in you that also is not the right fit and maybe that something will help change the world for the better someday. (Hope I haven’t offended anyone, and not trying to put anyone down. Just publicly working through this rejection……)

DS Rejected
SAT: 1500
GPA: 95, IB diploma
Good EC/leadership/research/recs
Congrats to all who were accepted and onward for the rest!

It’s always hard for me reading through the posts of kids that did not get the news they wanted.

@InquiringMom2 your description of your S reminded me so much of my S16 - humble, thoughtful, helpful. I can’t help but believe that he will land well and has great things ahead for him. I hope you post his final decision the parents of the HS class of 2022 thread .

my Daughter rejected. 4.74 WGPA, Subject test Bio 800, 13 APs, 1560(single sitting) research paper, lot of ecs around activism, state champion wrestler. I am not sure how much more she could have pushed. She is rejected from MIT too, although that was not a fit , since she is not a Math kid. Rejection sucks, congratulations to kids who are accepted, you truly deserve every bit of it for your hard work

DD rejected. 3.92, 4.2 weighted, TO
Strong ecs, excellent essays.
It’s a trend. :see_no_evil: I know her time will come & this was not at the top of her list, but every no stings.

I agree. My daughter was accepted in ED1 and the communication has been very little. Other universities that accepted her around that time (we later withdrew), sent a lot of details.

We were wondering if they really don’t care ED folks

We did not do ED as we did not want to commit, can you withdraw from ED? That is good to know

Rejected, but not surprised
3.86 UW, 4.2 W, 13 APs and Honors
1480 SAT
Good ECs and essay.
Onward.

Wow! First congrats to all who were accepted. Welcome to the Nest. @SamKumar my daughter was accepted ED1 last year and she received quite a bit of information. Most of it directly to her or on her portal for access to A LOT of virtual greet/get to know/etc. sessions. Are you sure your student isn’t missing out on this information? I can’t see them going backwards from just a year ago. But then again… I’d check with your student before assuming they are not getting anything.

They should have also been receiving gifts. Several if I’m not mistaken. They will come snail mail.
