Johns Hopkins Fall 2022 Admissions - Class of 2026

Does anyone have foresight on the “waitlisted” applicants this year?

Accepted!

FGLI Hispanic/Latine
3.9 UW GPA, 4.2 W
Went test optional
Did Home +Impact back in October (I have a hunch this is part of what carried my application specifically to Hopkins)
Essays were mainly focused on identity and what impact I wanted to bring to others.
7 APs, 3 Dual Enrollment, 2 Honors classes, school doesn’t have the widest range of advanced classes
1st in my class, tried to take the most rigorous curriculum I could
Lots of band ECs and some social justice stuff mixed in there
Also had some pretty strong recommendations

Thanks very much for the PDF!
D22 also was admitted ED2 and she also told me there’s not much showing in her portal. She visited the city over the summer. She also made a campus visit in November before accepting a spot on the team; during her campus visit she attended a Fr. class & a Jr. class with 2 of her future teammates, she also had meetings with the Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Success & with the Assistant Director of the Life Design Lab.
Her friend who’s recruited to play another sport just attended a ‘Blue Jay Day’ weekend arranged by the coaching staff for the recruits.
We’d love to attend some of these admitted student events if you guys think are going to be different than what D22 attended during her campus visit. Also are there costs to attend these events?

Same here :slightly_smiling_face:

I am planning to visit Hopkins during spring break (first week of April), but I heard over Discord there’s a planned welcome event on 4/8 - this makes me wonder if I should spend my spring break somewhere else.

The events tab on the portal was updated today with all of the virtual and in person events listed on that PDF, all admitted students should be able to register there.

My son was rejected. GPA 4.9. Valedictorian from huge public school. Hispanic. Legacy. But no trouble. My kid really did not want to go to Baltimore. He was actually somewhat relieved.

Rejected
UW - 3.85
W - 4.4

Lots of EC, Leadership roles, Biology Research, several other ECs

This year seems like a big change and beyond expectations due to record applications.

Sounds like my son!

Yup, 6% acceptance rate this year is crazy!

rejected
NY, neuroscience, Asian male,
1540/35, 14 AP + 1 college classes, 97UW/104W
sublime EC’s (volunteering at nursing homes, lab internship, PT job, competitive clubs, student gov, etc.) decent awards (AIME, NMSF, NHS, smaller STEM awards)
good commonapp essay, and (I assume) decent to solid LOR’s, I also submitted an application update

I wasn’t really distraught at all, especially since it wasn’t my top choice or anything

Now everyone has gotten me worry about my D22; looks like everyone who’s gotten accepted are academic rock stars! She got in through athletics via ED2; although she’s not taken STEM AP classes. She has tested very well; but so are everyone else who have disclosed their stats. Even though during her campus visit; she’s told by the Academic Advising of the athletics department & by her future teammates there’re extra tutoring sessions for the athletes. Well, comes this fall she’s going to take classes with all these genii.
Maybe I’d be suggesting my D22 to pick a non STEM major so she’ll be in a slightly more level playing field.

Don’t worry! Your daughter will do amazing. Every student at JHU is talented (including her)!!!

Did the coach allow an ED2 for support, meaning JHU wasn’t her first choice? Wow.

This site contains a VERY small sample of accepted students so please don’t use anyone’s profile as the standard. ALSO, there are so many HS out there with varied teaching styles. Like I remind my daughter all the time. Chemistry at School A is not the same at School B… therefore grades are not the same. Also, for classes like Calc you are required to do the PILOT session so your daughter will get lots of support. Also, according to my Bluejay the students are quite collaborative, so she will also get peer support.

Actually JHU has been my D22’s 1st choice; just the coach couldn’t confirm the offer till 10/31 as he’s waiting for the AO on giving the blessing for issuing the Likely Letter. He’s half joking when he asked if D22 could apply ED1 within a day; & D22 told Coach she’d apply ED1 if she didn’t have to answer the essay prompts then of course Coach said no.

Does anybody know how one can get to see the dorms? There are tours for admitted students, but apparently they don’t show dorms in those. The admissions info line people said that they show dorms to Blue Jay Day attendees, but that’s only for RD students, not for ED. Would really like to see the dorms before submitting preferences in a few weeks!

Check youtube or campus reel for videos.

Since we paid the deposit, we got to register for e-mail address etc. but no communication yet on dorm preferences etc. Normal ?

Urgently situation. My son got into BME major at JHU on 3/18/2022 the date of admission releasing. But after 4 weeks his portal shown that JHU could not offer a BME spot for him. Does anyone know what happened? The due date to enroll is 5/1/2022. He likes BME at JHU very much. Does BME student need to enroll ASAP to get a spot? Thank you very much.
