Johns Hopkins Undergraduate Housing

I applied as a transfer student to johns hopkins and i was wondering what the best place for sophomores to live on campus was? also does anyone know what my chances are of getting a single?

Current student here! Not sure how the transfer process works, since rising sophomores have already picked housing for next year.

Charles Commons is the newest sophomore dorm with the most amenities- mailroom, gym, Nolan’s (dining hall), Insomnia Cookies, etc. The rooms there are singles in suites of 2 or 4 people. They don’t have full kitchens, only kitchenettes, but 4-person suites get a full fridge and a living room. Downsides include cost and required meal plan.

Bradford is an older apartment-style building with 1,2,3, and 4 person suites of single rooms. All of the suites have full kitchens and living rooms, so you’re not required to have a meal plan. The top two floors are renovated, and the top four floors will be fully fixed up by the fall, but the other floors are visibly older.

Homewood is another apartment building with MASSIVE single rooms in 1,2,3, and 4 person suites. Full kitchens and living rooms too. The biggest downside is that it’s three blocks away from the center of campus, but it’s at least close to the Lab, which is a new student center next door to Homewood.

McCoy is by far the worst sophomore dorm, mainly because it’s also a freshman dorm. Sophomores get their own floors on the building, but most people there have to live in doubles (aka sharing a room with a roommate). Kitchenettes and no living rooms in the suites, and you’re required to have a meal plan. The only nice thing about McCoy is sophomores can register for group housing and reserve a floor or part of a floor for a large group of friends who want to live near each other. Otherwise, it’s pretty unfortunate to be stuck there when everyone else is living it up in Commons/Bradford/Homewood
