Johns Hopkins vs University of Florida honors program please help!!

I got into both johns hopkins and university of florida honors program and cant decide. I know johns hopkins has a really good reputation but I think I want to do business. At university of florida i would pursue the four year masters program in finance or the five year masters program in accounting, but at hopkins I would have to do an economics major with a minor in finance economics. I am open to doing a medical major like cognitive science or biology, but I am not sure about that because I dont want to spend 10-12 years of school and dont know what else I could do with a major in biology. Please help!

Have you heard of the healthcare industry, bioengineering or biotechnology? These are only some of the most profitable and fastest growing industries in the U.S., and are necessarily the intersection of science and business. Many schools, including JHU, offer master’s programs in Biotechnology and Biotechnology, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (among other related grad programs: https://www.jhu.edu/academics/#!/programlevel=masters), though I’m not familiar with these specific programs or post-graduation placement (contact them!)). I assure you though, there are way more jobs out there in these fields than in most other industries at the present time (and in the foreseeable future).

If you know that you want to do business, then you should go to a school that will support that endeavor. In that regard, a four-year or five-year program in the specific fields that interest you sounds ideal. Business and medicine are very different fields, though! If you don’t want to spend the time in medical school, don’t be premed (although you could always look into other health professions).

Also, many health professions (nursing is the only one that comes to mind that doesn’t do this) require a Bachelor’s degree, but in any field. So you could (in theory) be a premed Economics major. That solves the problem of not having a practical major and will buy you some time to do some shadowing to see if medicine is something you might want to pursue. NixonDenier’s post also shows a good intersection between healthcare and business, which might interest you.

Ultimately, reputation is nice, but you want something that will support your goals as well as having many strong departments so that if you change your mind, you can still get a solid education in another field.

Thank you so much to both of you it really really helped!!!

JHU is more prestigious and if you’re going into business, it will benefit you to have a degree from a renowned institution.
