Johnson Letters Mailed Today

alright, thanks!

facebook status, here I come…

I got mine today! I’m really excited  I hope to see you guys in March.

Mine arrived today, too  Very excited to see everyone on campus!

Congrats to all finalists and good luck to everyone still waiting to hear.

locations?

I’m from all the way in Washington State, and I got mine today! I am very excited!
See you all soon :)

I’m from Oregon and got mine today! Glad to see another northwesterner :)

Wasn’t expecting much, so I guess that means I was rejected…

For those not named finalists, we can still be accepted to the school, right? And congrats to all finalists! Good luck.

Perhaps I am being too analytical, but it seems odd that the two letter recipients who identified their locations (three others did not) are from the far west. Difficult to imagine that only five students involved in this site received letters. I think today’s mail will be telling.

Golfdude, of course we can still be accepted to the school. W&L’s Johnson accept rate was 8%, whereas their normal acceptance rate is 19%. I still have hope that I’ll be accepted to the school, and I’m not giving up on W&L just because I didn’t make Johnson finals.

redguard: W&L official line is that you are not officially accepted yet, but in reality you probably are unless (very important) you do something stupid at the visit. And yes, it happens. Last year some Johnson candidate got smashed at a party and was promptly taken to the airport. So when you go for the visit, be sure and treat it as if your actions were being judged the enire time. You will have a great time.

I didn’t receive a letter yet and I’m excited! goodluck you guys!

Just adding to scmom’s post…
Also, if you reject the offer to come to the competition, even with an excuse such as an important performance, you will be wait listed. I remember lurking in these forums awhile ago and looking at posts from last year. There were a couple of people that happened to.
Bottom line: Go to the competition and don’t be stupid.

Good luck in Lexington!

We are from the midwest. My son had a great interview with Prof Knudson during his visit in August. He has all the stats listed on the website, including leadership and extras, and we have not gotten anything yet. Hoping it is where we live, and slow mail. He loves W & L, but has too many generous money offers at other top schools already to pay full freight. Fingers crossed.

No letter in the mail today- guess that means I didn’t make it.

Finalists, can you post stats?

Did anyone new get a letter today?

Nothing here either. Oh well.

Don’t assume because the letter is not there today you are not a finalist. What I noticed in the last couple of years is if you live near a major city, the mail is quicker. There were some not getting their notices for 4-5 days last year.

Plus, dancepsychelove is totally correct. There was someone on here a couple of years ago who had some type of competititon on the same days. They chose that over attending the finalist competition and were waitlisted.

Don’t give up yet!

My son’s came in the mail a few minutes ago. He just called me…thrilled to say the least.

To respond to an earlier post, I’m from Massachusetts and one of my friends from New Hampshire is also attending. So the East Coast will also be represented

No letter today and I’m from California.
