Johnson Scholar - On college transcript?

I was just wondering if being a “Johnson Scholar” is noted on your W&L college transcript (when it is being sent out for grad school admissions, etc.) Thanks!

Why should it be? It is in no way reflective of your academic achievements upon getting to W&L which is the exact purpose of a transcript.

@Mehdiocre it may or may not. However, college honors earned are more important. Graduating with Honors (Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, Summa Cum Laude) and at the highest end Phi Beta Kappa (which is about the top 6 or 7 percent. Know that about 1/3 of Johnson Scholars don’t even mange to graduate Cum Laude or better.

I was just wondering because some other honors colleges do that (or so I’ve heard). Thanks for answering tho!

The Johnson is not an honors college. No preferential housing, registration, or classes. One of D’s profs asked why D chose W&L, and when I mentioned the scholarship, she said the faculty have no idea who is/isn’t a Johnson scholar. There’s a group photo taken during orientation, and the Johnson annual report is on the W&L website, so it’s not a secret, but the only special treatment I remember was a reception for Johnson scholars and their families over Parents Weekend. (Note that I am not complaining!) The W&L students I met were every bit as deserving as my D; the selection committee must have a tough job indeed.

I know it’s not an honors college and the fact that rarely do the students/profs know who is a Johnson and who isn’t. Just stating my reasons for asking since I view the scholarship as something close to “honors college” except it’s just a money reward. Just misused a term. Thanks for the responses~
