So aggrieved. Apparently a FedEx package arrived today but nobody was at my home to receive the package, so they left a door tag. It seems that FedEx is closed Sunday, so it looks like I won’t be finding anything out until next Monday. And I’m really concerned because someone else here mentioned that the registration deadline for the Johnson weekend is Feb.13th…
Didn’t receive anything FedEx either. Ironically, the postal worker came to my door with a package from a different school! Congratulations to those who received the invitation! @Galore I’m assuming that if we didn’t receive it today, we won’t be getting the invitation. We’ll probably get a tiny envelope on Monday.
@TheDidactic Meh. Oh well, there’s always other schools. But I really wanted this
@tragoedia2 Yes the registration deadline is Feb 13. You can look at the information you need to provide to register by visiting go.wlu.edu/johnson_finalist Registration talks about needing a current head shot and a resume without classes or GPA.
@yaupon I looked on facebook too and sent some messages to some Tyler D’s. Haven’t heard back yet.
@tragoedia2 That does stink, but Monday is only the day after tomorrow… It may seem like an eternity, but you’ll know in time to reply by Friday the 13th. Now you just better hope that the FedEx package that wasn’t delivered was from W&L and not somewhere else!
Daughter still not home, the envelope remains sealed
We came back home around 1 PM, the envelope was left at the doorstep so obviously no signature required in our case. We are in Utah…
Does it say what time it was delivered in Utah? We are also in Utah but have a PO Box Fedex doesn’t usually come till the end of the day - hopefully something on Monday! Either way congrats to your daughter
@Yocco1
@CasualLaugh
Thanks for your kind replies. Unfortunately, my father and I have determined that the FedEx package couldn’t possibly be from Washington and Lee because its size is 10 by 8 by 6 in, weighs about 2 lb, and requires an indirect signature according to the tracking number listed on the door tag. So it looks like I’m not a finalist. Terribly disappointing but forseeable. Anyways, congrats to everyone who got an invite!
I am in the PO Box group, so can people post stats so we can see what this year’s selectees looked like?
@mxl2015 well I will just say that I was selected but my SAT was just 2060. There must have been something they liked about my essays
has anyone from Virginia received anything yet??
Or anyone from Maryland? My sons SAT was 2280 ?? I thought the rest of his application was pretty solid. But no FedEx!! Boo congrats to everyone else.
Toolee - it says to deliver by noon.
Haven’t gotten anything, in GA… Guessing the bad news comes tomorrow
Congrats to those who have been named Johnson finalists - quite an achievement for sure! Since you are officially accepted to W&L, according to other posts I have read, can you PLEASE POST YOUR STATS on the thread I created on 2/3/15, ED Class of 2019 Results Thread? It would be very helpful to future Johnson candidates, as well as to current RD candidates. Also please post if you have been accepted (or denied) ED already, even though you aren’t a Johnson Finalist. Just share what you are comfortable sharing. Thanks!
My stats: 33 act 4.33 gpa (4.0 unweighted). President of NHS and girls service club, Vice President of art guild, NAHS member. Have a job during the school year. Lots of summer leadership stuff (HOBY, summer scrubs, etc.) volunteer at local hospital over summer. I also think having an art portfolio made me stand out @mxl2015
@amanda19 I hope it did, because I submitted one as well. So if that benefits, I hope I’m in your boat.
There was no letter at my post office, which we have determined means that I did not get it. Congrats to all of those who did. As a way to help future classes, if you could post your stats, it was something I was looking for while I was looking, and was unable to truly find. Stats for this would be: GPA, Standardized Testing, Strength of ECs, Essay(Common) and Essay(Johnson) strength. It may also be helpful for those who got rejected, so here are mine:
GPA: Weak, but had personal issues- 3.7
SAT/ACT: 2120/33
ECs: EXTREMELY strong(Ealge Scout, President of multiple clubs, 250+ service hours a year)
Essays: I believed them to be strong. Have heard back from one college that they loved my common app, Johnson was about leadership and forming a club that brought out or hushed the harsh voices, and was able to involve those who remained silent.
Following @mxl2015’s format:
[ Invited ]
GPA: 4.0 / 4.66
SAT/ACT: 2100 / 33
ECs: children’s grief support group facilitator, President of Academic Decathlon, Community Service Manager of Interact Club, Founder and President of Rubik’s Cube Club, co-captain of Varsity Tennis team, Defense Attorney for Mock Trial, Global Club, Autism Awareness Club, Peer Tutor.
Essays: can’t accurately testify to their strength, but time was definitely invested and I had great feedback from my Literature teacher.
I’m seeing the amazing stats of some of the people invited and can’t believe I’m in that group…
