I live in a different state and will be missing out on rush week:(
However, I do want to be in a sorority! Is there any chance after the school year starts? I don't know if I'd be living with them or not (am I required to?) but I just want to be involved in Greek Life! I'm excited to try out everything at UW! Go Huskies! :)

PS I'm a freshman :) Thanks!

Yes, it is possible to join a sorority after formal ‘recruitment’ (they don’t call it rush). Houses that still have room will be open to adding members. You can probably find out more by looking on the PanHellenic webpage.

It is generally required to “live-in” but perhaps if you join after the time when you can get a refund on the dorm, they make exceptions for the first quarter. One of the reasons they want the house to be full is to fund the fixed costs of running the house. The room/board/dues costs vary - for my daughter’s sorority, it was actually much cheaper to live in the sorority than in the dorms - even with all the stinkin’ T-shirts and sweatshirts we had to buy.
