Journal of Activities and Achievements?

I'm pretty much ready to send in my app, the only problem is that I left the journal of activities and achievements blank, but I'm thinking that I should go back and do it. Only problem is that I'm not sure how exactly to go about writing it.

Do I just list the things I've achieved or should it be in paragraph form?

You should definitely fill this section if you really want to get into UW. Write short paragraphs describing your accomplishments and how the experience/activity impacted you (did it make you more aware of an issue, did you become better at leading, etc…)

You will most likely be rejected if you leave the activities/achievements section blank. I’m serious. UW is looking for well rounded students, and this is the best place to show them off.

Here is an example off the top of my head. The ellipses (…) means you should add more detail there:
Activity: Select Basketball at SomeNameHere Community Center
Description: From my sophomore to senior years, I was selected as part of the community basketball team…I was in charge of team building activities my junior year… during my senior year (now), I was elected captain. As captain, I … <list responsibilities="">… From my leadership experience, I learned how to communicate with others…etc.</list>

Don’t worry about writing more than just a small paragraph, too! My activities had 3 paragraphs each: What the activity was about (sometimes it’s not very clear from the name of it), my roles and participation, and what I learned from it/gave to the team or community.

Good luck!

Thanks so much! You were both very helpful :)

jumping in on this, sorry…
I wrote two journal “entries” for this about doing Karate and my brief stint in soccer. I wrote them like the personal statement, rather than listing everything in a boring, straightforward format. Is this alright, or do they actually want “this is what I do and this is what my responsibilites were” instead of “pretty and interesting description of activity, this is what I learned/why I do it”

also, my topics are a bit weak, but I haven’t gotten any awards in high school… my EC’s are weak
