In order to become a journalist, is it necessary to major in journalism as an undergrad? I am interested in fashion journalism and working for a fashion publication. Do you think it is necessary that I major in journalism, or do you think I could major in english?
Thanks!

Either English or Journalism are good degrees for that. What matters most is having plenty of experience writing, publishing clips, and journalism internships.

News writing is a different style of writing than English courses teach. Having said that, fashion writing might be more closely related to feature writing. Some journalism schools offer concentrations in magazine writing and that might be another way to go.
