journalism

okay, so i've been accepted into the college of letters, arts, sciences with a major that i'm not so sure i want to stick with. i went to orientation and put together a schedule which has no classes relevant to my major (because it was impossible to fit them in with the TO classes i have to take).

i've been thinking a lot about a major instead in broadcast journalism. it looks like i can't really apply for the major until next year (or maybe second semester of this year?), but i was wondering what classes are recommended for freshmen in the journalism major...? if they don't require d-clearance, i may as well just take them and not fall behind for once i transfer (hopefully).

any help would be great, thanks.

journalism majors are required to take:
all 6 gen ed categories and writing 140 (obviously)
up to/including the 3rd level of a language
journalism 201-history of the news in modern America--you might be able to get d-clearance for this one, so if you think you have a shot, take it second semester (that's when the majority of comm, journalism, etc majors take it)

once sophomore year starts, journalism majors will start core curriculum, and you will need to be accepted to the annenberg school to continue. i suggest talking with Annie Mateen, the broadcast journalism academic advisor if you want advice/suggestions about being accepted to the major.

thank you! :-)
