JROTC banned in San Francisco

09mama ... it seems you're enthused about the Govenator. :)

Despite San Fran's God-given natural wonders, it's tough sorting out anything that makes sense from the godless politics/polity there which the media insists on selling us as cutting-edge policy. No doubt Rome claimed same for its ailing empire.

I suspect this is fodder for another forum, don't we think? ;)

Sub-MOA, man. Sub-MOA. :(

For those of you who don't shoot, look up "Minute of Angle".

ETA: Gaea loves you, man! Like, TOTALLY! :D

"Despite San Fran's God-given natural wonders, it's tough sorting out anything that makes sense from the godless politics/polity there which the media insists on selling us as cutting-edge policy. No doubt Rome claimed same for its ailing empire."

This reminds me of stories from ancient times. Travelers would be warned not to travel to the next village because those in the village were godless baby eating murders and they would surely skin you alive. Those travelers who recognized fearful ignorance for what it was and would go to those next villages would invariably hear the same story, but this time about the people from the village the traveler had just left.

So from four school board members (three of who were subsequently voted out of office) we have hyperbola like "San Francisco values", the fall of Rome, Frankenstein, “Reality-free zone”, tin-foil (Zap, that’s a sidecar driver thing, trust me, I know) etc. And of all of you who are outraged at these sad events, how many of you wrote the school board to register your complaints? Kudo’s if you did. Like voting, if you didn’t do your civic duty, why are you complaining? For the record, not a one of them replied to my letter.

Of course the rhetoric serves to identify an enemy which is necessary to inspire, unite, and mobilize the villagers. It’s a time honored ploy and one that no matter how many times a light is shone on it never fails to stir the ignorant. Death to San Francisco!

So...... pointing out yet another ACTUAL example in a long line of similar ACTUAL examples emanating from ONE place is now akin to raising the ire of the ignorant villagers with pitchforks, eh?

We were discussing hyperbole?

Ok, usna09mom, I did not know that the 9 new teachers would be full vs. part time. That makes a bit more sense now. I still think the financial side is just a minor factor, considering the reasons the board members stated.

"So...... pointing out yet another ACTUAL example in a long line of similar ACTUAL examples emanating from ONE place is now akin to raising the ire of the ignorant villagers with pitchforks, eh?"

Yes.

It is the same thing as a Democrat denouncing all Republicans as Ann Coulter Conservatives or claiming Rush Limbaugh speaks for all conservatives. It's a straw man argument and it oversimplifies for those too lazy or ignorant to pursue the far more nuanced truth.

And Zap, I love your pitchfork analogy; it's a great visual. It reminds me of the original black and white Frankenstein movie. I hope you don't mind if I file it away for future use.

By all means. I wasn't the one who invented the phrase, so I have no rights to it. :)
