Judge my chances please

Hi all,

I am an International student, currently studying 12th Grade in the United Arab Emirates in a school which follows Indian curriculum CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education).

I just wanted to know what my chances are in getting admission into University of Colorado, Boulder for Aeronautical Engineering.

I dont have GPA grading in my school. The grading is purely based on marks obtained:
9th - 85%
10th - 90%
11th - 80%

If my school was giving GPA grading then my grading MIGHT (coz there is not accurate grading for the Indian curriculum) look like this:-
9th – 3.7+ / 4.0 (coz I got A’s in all my subjects)
10th – 3.7/4.0+ (coz I got A’s in all my subjects)
11th – 3.2-3.4 / 4.0 (coz I got a few A’s and a few B’s)

I had also recieved a half-fee scholarship in grade 11.

ACTIVITIES :
I have been selected to attend the Global Young Leaders’ Conference (GYLC) in Washington/New York this year.
Swimming
Singing
Made Robot for science exhibition
Created a presentation on the periodic table
Helped the team in coming 3rd in an inter-school robot competition
Part of the school Anti-Smoking Committee
I have been learning Indian Carnatic Music vocal for over 10 years and have give a 2 and half hour concert. I have also been learning Carnatic Music violin for over 3 years.

SAT SCORES:
MATH - 700
CR - 600
Planning to give it again to improve my score (hopefully 1350+).

Going to give SAT II's in November. Will get above 750 in maths, physics and chemistry.

Teacher Recommendations will be really good. Not sure what the school counsellor will write (but got info from previous school mates in US universities that we usually get really good recs).

Am going to start working on the essays when the apps are released and HOPEFULLY they should be good.

Responses will also be accepted for these universities as well UMich Ann Arbor, UVA, UIUC, UCLA, University of Notre Dame, Cornell and Penn State.

Will appreciate all responses. good as well as bad.

Thanks all.

I am a student at the University of Colorado at Boulder. First, you posted this on May 16. Are you going to apply next year? It's too late to apply for the Fall 2006 semester.

Second, you must know that UCB is about eighty percent Colorado residents so any out of state or international students are already at a disadvantage.

Third, the Engineering school is the most competitive one at the University.

Don't think that you don't have a chance. I would definitely apply. However, just note your disadvantages. Private schools are more likely to accept you than UCB so I would apply to some of them as well.

It is a great school. One where you will find intense academic competition if you seek it (as I have). Also, it is one where you can just lay back and get by. The professors and students are all generally nice and helpful. I don't think you would have any regrests matriculating if were accepted.

Good luck and feel free to email me!

Note: sorry that I said you applied on May 16. I don't know what I was thinking. I must have been looking at a different post.

dude, your definitely in, don't worry about it. With a 1300 SAT, solid GPA, and great extracurricular's, this should be your safety.

With my stats mentioned above will i be able to get into the honors program for engineering

Will i be able to get any kind of scholarship

will my chances really depriciate if i got around 2.8+ GPA for my 12th (the indian system sucksssss).

Is there any way that i would be able to calculate an accurate GPA so that i will be able to decide whether or not i will have a chance at UColorado Boulder.

Cheers

you should be fine..... but whats up with the 2.8..
since its your senior year it probably wont hurt your chacnes..but could damper scholarship opps

-Out of state
-3.0 Unweighted, 3.3 Weighted at a private catholic school
-2030 SAT (610 Math, 700 Writing, 720 Verbal)
-4 years of cross country and track (practice before and after school)
-President of the Social Justice Club and member of the Community Service Leadership Team at my school
-National Hispanic Merit Scholar-Honorable Mention
-Am applying to the School of Architecture and Planning and have interned as a modelmaker in Frank Gehry's office

Please asses my chances

avsseahawks

It depends on what school you are applying to. You'll get into the College of Arts & Sciences easily. As far as Engieering or Bussiness, you have a decent shot, but your GPA and Math SAT score seem like they would need to be a little higher. But you are also at nat. Merit Hispanics scholar... my guess is youre' most likely in.

Hey,
i go to a private all girls school that is ridiculously hard it's a college prep and i screwed around most of highschool and now it's coming back around to slap me in the face.. i was wondering what y'all thought my chances of getting into colorado state are.. i'm freaking out.. since their still taking applications i assume they have room.. But i'm still freaking out..

My GPA is awful it's a 2.5 and i have a 24 on the ACT. my grades have steadly gone up from a 1.7-1.8 freshman year to a 3.3-3.4 this year but all together it's a 2.5.
They rank at my school which is one of the dumbest things in the world since it's so damn small and hard as hell and as far as i know i'm in the 5th quintile.

i applied with a psychology major and sent in an essay but theres not much more i can do. i'm just praying that i get in...

please don't sugar coat it just tell me what you think
thanks
