I listen to Scissor Sisters, The Postal Service, Sunny Day Real Estate, Bright Eyes, Reba McEntire and Britney Spears(please don't ask :) ), Spoon, and much more--but definitely not rap

I mostly listen to country (only good radio stations that come in my car) but most of my cds are random mixes from middle school or stuff like the backstreet boys. I pity the middle schoolers of today who have to listen to ppl like Ashlee Simpson. Honestly, how can that compare to Bad Touch, boy bands, bubblegum pop, Spice Girls, etc?

Wow okay, totally never heard of any of those, except for Britney Spears... haha. So does everybody in the US listen to that kind of music? I always thought that I could expect people in the US to listen to the same kind of music as Canadian teenagers. (Or maybe I'm just totally out of the loop =P) I guess I shouldn't just make those assumptions or even make generalizations. But I still can't help but wonder, what do most people listen to?

And showtunes. I'm a big fan of showtunes.

Backstreet Boys??

Hush up; they're super cool! Not really. I just haven't bought cds in a long time.

The hip teenagers of today's America listen to pop punk and sissy christian "emo" (i.e. switchfoot)

Emo kids. Cheer up.

you would call those teenagers "hip" amor?

Wow... I guess I'm gonna be lost when I get there...

No, I'd call them "tools."

But I am an indie snob.

well said, amor, well said
why will you be lost lucyS?

Anybody listen to Nelly?

lucy: i'm nearly positive that no one is such a music snob (except maybe amor) that they will ridicule you for not being in tune with american music.

I don't know any of these bands (or whatever they are) that you guys are talking about...

No, I don't care, don't misunderstand that. I was being completely 100% sarcastic when I said "hip American teenagers." American teenagers are attention whores who follow any trend they think will get them noticed (and now emo and pop punk are in).

I don't know any of the indie ones. I'm pretty out of touch with that. I can tell you quite a bit about country though...

This is like a huge shock for me... I thought American and Canadian people our age would listen to similar music... I guess I shouldn't make such a big deal, but still...

I know, I was kidding. There needs to be a better way to convey kidding than jk. I feel like a tool typing jk.

What's "tool"?
