Jumping straight into Advanced Classes?

I took the required Foreign Language Placement test for my college. I plan to major in French, so that was the test I took. I got my results, and I get to skip 101,102,103,104, and 105, taking me straight into 203 Composition and Conversation.

I asked my French teacher what the class was about, and she said that it's basically writing an essay and discussing it in class. She said I would be ready for it, as I know more French than what she did at my age. I will receive 6 credits for the classes I get to skip if I take 203 the first semester.

But my question is, should I take it so early? I feel like jumping into an Advanced-level college language course is a little extreme for a first-semester freshman. However, my teacher said that the class helped helped her writing and public speaking skills. I schedule classes June 15, but I wanted to know your guys' take on it.

Bon jour, sutaihei. My advice to you is to jump immediately into the advanced class. Your French skills are fresher now than they will be in a few months. Don’t let them get stale.
