June 14 2014 ACT Discussion

wait what was answer alking about the sun rising up

@SammyxB‌ was that the one talking about anticipation or something?

Yeah.

BTW guys, the ACT isn’t curved.

I said the rising sun “smothered” the landscape.

Same.

Also here: <a href=“June ACT 2014 - Google Docs”>June ACT 2014 - Google Docs;

Live chat is up for ACT to talk to rep and there is no curve at all

If ACT is not curved then ahy some time 1x and 36 and some time 0x and 36. How do they explain.

@SammyxB yes it is… I’m not sure where you get your facts from, but you’re wrong. Each ACT is curved slightly differently, but every one has some sort of curve.

So the person I just talked to that is an ACT representative from ACT website is wrong?

I’m sorry but I think I take into account someone direct more than someone from this website.

Matter fact let me copy and paste what they said:

"Ryan D: The ACT test is not “curved” at all. Each student gets a straight-up numerical score based on the number of questions answered correctly.You might have received a version of the test that had a slightly different writing style from most (I cannot verify this) for some sections.

The test is still considered to be the same in terms of difficulty, regardless of which version of the test you received. It will be scored fairly, and with any version changes (if any) in mind.I have heard that sometimes they try a different writing style on some questions to see if they can improve the test, but I cannot verify this.They take the test content and format very seriously, including fairness and difficulty aspects and they take any tweeks into account when scoring."

@warrenfb9 They tweak questions they test on us that may be used to “improve” the test. Don’t believe me, go talk to them yourself:

http://www.act.org/studentforms/chat.html</a></p>

They are online.

Well there is a curve for tests based on their difficulty. I missed 6 on the february act and got a 33

I think what the act person was trying to say was that the curve isn’t dependent on everyone’s score on the test; it’s predetermined

No i asked them that.they said NO curve. Zip.nada. No pre-determination.Nothing. All they do is tweak some questions.

Here is doc that has the convo I had with one of the reps:

<a href=“June ACT 2014 - Google Docs”>June ACT 2014 - Google Docs;

“You might have received a version of the test that had a slightly different writing style from most (I cannot verify this) for some sections.
“The ACT test is not “curved” at all. Each student gets a straight-up numerical score based on the number of questions answered correctly.”

If I have to provide picture of proof,I will.

Test is gonna be considered the same compared to WHAT?

OMG wow, I believe you @SammyxB‌ but I feel like that would be super unfair considering all past ACT have had it and I also think they would have to inforn takers before hand.
I went and asked them again just to be sure and they said “We are not sure, contact the student services department”

And maybe reading might not have a curve becuz of the new thing but how about some of the other parts?

@master1006 I still highly doubt that there won’t be a curve at all…

And if ACT is not curved at all, how come scoring is different for some tests? Say for example April ACT vs February ACT.
