Passengers and farmers

i think greek and sonnet form was same question? haah that sounds ridiculous. sorry im starting to forget

Come back to me, who wait and watch for you:--
Or come not yet, for it is over then,
And long it is before you come again,
So far between my pleasures are and few.
While, when you come not, what I do I do
Thinking "Now is when he comes," my sweetest "when":
For one man is my world of all the men
This wide world holds; O love, my world is you.
Howbeit, to meet you grows almost a pang
Because the pang of parting comes so soon;
My hope hangs waning, waxing like a moon
Between the heavenly days on which we meet:
Ah me, but where are now the songs I sang
When life was sweet because you called them sweet?

its christina rossetti, and it is a sonnet. damn

It didn't have 14 lines? Why did I think that it did? Are you sure the Q wasn't asking about the love poem?

greek mythology is probably right....but how is that strict sonnet form?

Yeah, I thought the strict sonnet thing pertained to the love poem.

I know it didnt have any Greek references, I put that as an answer because the Q was "it had all the following EXCEPT".

No, I think the strict sonnet form & greek mythology are two different questions. Because I know I picked Greek mythology and sonnet form for a I, II, or III Q...or at least I think so.

Yeah, the love poem is a sonnet, but it does not have any greek references. It is a "strict sonnet", because it follows the iambic pentimeter pattern, but another element to a sonnet is that it is usually discursive, and the love poem isn't discursive, so it had to be the greek references for that answer if we were deciding between sonnet or no greek references.

No, but I'm saying that sonnet and Greek mythology were choices for DIFFERENT questions. Because I remember choosing BOTH as answers, which is not possible on a MC Q that asked for 1 answer.

o siren i hope so! i put that its not a strict sonnet because the rhyme scheme wasnt right

does you guys remember the other choices with "strict sonnet"? What was the question even?

why wasnt it mythology? i didnt notice any mythological references

I put Greek mythology. Omg, guys listen, sonnet and Greek were different Qs, why does no one believe me? Lol. I don't remember the answer choices for strict sonnet, was it a I, II, and III Q?

lol..I believe you...I dont' remember the sonnet question, though, but I think I put that down also.

spotlessmind, i said that the answer was that it didn't have any greek references.

Right, that's why I'm saying that I chose the sonnet AND Greek mythology as answers. Because they were different Qs.

no they werent.. it was an except question.. and it was a sonnet with metres.. so u had to choose what it did not include... greek mythology.. maybe u accidently chose sonnet as one of the choices when it was blank verse? and the I II III was about keeping a balanced metre for that one also

All I know is that I chose the blank verse, did not include greek mythology, and others. If the questions were right here in front of me, along with the passages, then I would be able to choose.

yeah good point haha.. i liked some of the passages tho.. and those were the ones i actually went through quickly.. but then other ones.. like the first passage i was like uhh i dont wanna answer questions about this crazy old woman who wants to rape this guy

No, I choose blank verse, greek mythology, and sonnet form for 3 separate Qs. I remember looking at a poem, seeing that it was a sonnet, and choosing it as an answer.

Spotlessmind, what did you mean by your last comment about I, II, III? Sorry, I didn't really understand it.

really i dont remember ever answering sonnet?? i only remember seeing "strict sonnet" and that was not the answer because it was an EXCEPT question.. and the poem was a sonnet....as for the I II III .. i was referring to the earlier post when i did include all III for that particular poem with the III as the "balanced metre scheme"
