June 2006 - French

What level of French class had you completed, candlefungus?

So you guys think the curve will be lenient?

it is se plaignait...it means to complain.

The curve is ok. I took it before and got a 730, so I retook it. But, I'm debating canceling. And, this does not at all compare ot the National French Contest because I placed 2nd in the nation.

Do any of you remember the questions?

Annnyyone here?

This was a better one than the May French subject test in my opinion...still hard, but considerably better.

do you remember anything?

Yes, but I prefer not to discuss the test for a while.

Anyone up for a chat to discuss? sat2french, or IM Zachsta830 for an invitation

We need more people in this chatttt

It was pretty difficult for me--and I'm in French IV. Not a native speaker. I'm expecting a 600 something, which isn't quite good enough for McGill. :-(

I did the national french contest and ranked 8th for Level 4..I'm in french IV too, next year taking AP. Do you think it's possible for me to get an 800 on the SAT II French?

I was ranked 4th... but obviously the SAT is quite different from that. I really REALLY want an 800, too!

Yeah do you think you'll get an 800? Was it easy?

Oh, I didn't take it. I'm going to take it next year.

I took the french in May, and I got a 750 : D !! (i'm not a native, that's what spanish is for) :P
I didn't prepare for it at all, I just became familiar with the format, because if you actually think about it, there's so much vocab to know, it just depends if you're lucky enough that they test the random vocab that you know, the only thing you can do though is to review grammar. For instance, I got a 630 on the only practice test I took.

I think I'm gonna work on vocab... I have a whole year to do it. I'll start by memorizing all the lists in PR (which actually aren't bad since I already know a lot of them).

I haven't even taken a practice test yet, but Vocab, Grammar Blanks, and Paragraph Blanks shouldn't be too bad, except the occasional vocab word I don't know. What I mostly will need to work on is probably the Reading.

what level of the grand concours did you take/place 2nd in?

I got 1st in NJ, 3rd nationwide in this year's Grand Concours, level 4, and have done very well in the past (1st nationwide one year), and am in AP French, and I thought the test was pretty hard. The vocab was much more random than the AP. However, the passages were shorter and a little easier.

Nice job on the Concours :)

My teacher didn't tell us our nation-wide results, only region-wide. But I think I'm safe in assuming that northern California's top few places would be the same score as those throughout the nation >_>
