will of the majority

o and key word was "seems" :)

will of the majority

o and key word was "seems" :)

It's Madison. Btw, the quote also had the word "Congress" in it.
James Madison wrote in Federalist Paper 51: "It is of great importance in a republic not only to guard the society against the oppression of its rulers but to guard one part of the society against the injustice of the other part. If a majority be united by a common interest, the rights of the minority will be insecure."

Madison had thought that the greatest safeguard against the tyranny of the majority was the large number of sects and divergences of interests and opinions that divided people in ways that made it virtually impossible for coalitions to form stable majorities.
I rest my case.

Jackson also believed in majority rule. And the quote was NOT from the federalist papers and was in favor of the will of the majority, as was Jackson. Collegeboard doesn't expect you to know specific quotes like that, and you can often find out an answer by thinking back to key facts such as the electoral college or appointment by state legislature. I'm not gonna argue anymore, but I will say that I had put Madison until I read it more carefully.

Can we go back to Hamilton? I think the army question has been settled. For Madison/Jackson- believe what you want to.

I had "bring as many people as possible in growth of new economy."

YES, exactly what I had- don't you think that "create a strong economy" was such a misleading answer?

Oh, and I decided to probably admit defeat on Madison/Jackson debate. I just didn't want to let go...ahah. That quote shattered my beliefs. Good find by the way.

Finally, were you a tech or army person?

army haha.

Alright, I am confident now that I made 800. Just barely though, I'm pretty sure I have -7 (including guessing penalties.)

Anyone else still fuzzy on some particular questions? I think we should update the list of questions.

what was the question for the native american one? the one with answer choices being they moved west, traded furs, etc.

I left that one blank.

It was like, What did native americans do when they met the colonial people? Sorry, I have really bad memory.
I only remember what i put, which was moved west due to enroachments on their land. Pretty sure Im wrong but w/e.

Almost positive it was the furs. B/c it talked about 1600's in the question.

And Indians on the East Coast I believe had agriculture, and Indians (it said most of em) didn't really mass migrate west in the 1600's.

yeah i put furs. i thought that the native americans didn't start moving west (at least in large numbers) in colonial times. and fur trade seemed to be significant in british and dutch seaboard colonies (Hudson Bay Company).

tussin: For a 5 in AP you only need like 70%, maybe less, of multiple choice. I think the questions were a similar level, and most ppl in my APUS class thought the SAT2 was harder. So one can easily get a 5 and not get an 800.

I am pretty sure the quote was something Madison would say. I, too, remember reading the faction thing and how no one faction can dominate American politics or along that lines. But my memory is kind of fading (since the test was last Saturday) so I can't be 100% sure.

updated list anyone?

and was there a question about the korean war/douglas macarthur?

I think the answer was about Truman dismissing McArthur.

No, it was an EXCEPT question and Truman DID dismiss McArthur for trying to push into China. I don't remember exactly what the correct choice was though, although im positive I got a definite answer to that question.

It was probably McArthur successfully invading the North, or defeating China, which is not true.

Yeah that was it, it was something about McArthur invading North Korea/China and Truman was against that.
