If it was anything earlier than the nineteenth century it was definitely silver.
Argentina means silver in Latin and the refridgerated car hadn't been invented to ship enough meat.</p>

<p>The answer to the question on why China stopped exploring was that confucian intellectuals opposed the exploration. That might have been answered earlier in the thread, though, I forget.</p>

<p>I think every single answer that I guessed I got wrong. This amounted to about 6 wrongs, plus 6 stupid mistakes (such as not looking at the time period for the Byzantine map, Sino-Soviet split getting confused, etc.)</p>

<p>The one about captive greece and rome thing, was "spread of culture" the exact wording of the answer? I think I put like E which was something like spread of greek culture under rome rule?
