June 2008 LATIN

I've been looking, and my tippy-top choice DOES accept credit for both Latin APs, and it works well because I'm taking Vergil self-study next year and want to go into Classical Language =]

I am doing EA so the 680 in Latin, along with my 700 in Math, will be the only SAT II scores the adcoms see until the November grades roll in...that is worrying me a little bit. Is there a place on the application (I'm doing commonapp) to write a big 5 so that they forget about my 680?

Yep, there's a small awards section on the Common App where you'll be able to write all of your AP scores.

Btw, if you're doing Vergil self-study, may I recommend a few books?

Vergil's Aeneid Books I-VI, Clyde Pharr (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers)
Extensive footnotes on every page, convenient vocabulary pull-out, complete grammatical review, and thorough explanations of all esoteric poetic terminologies.

Vergil's Aeneid, 10 & 12: Pallas & Turnus by Barbara Weiden Boyd
Addendum to Pharr's work.

Loeb Classical Library: Virgil - Ecologues, Georgics, Aeneid 1-6, H.R. Fairclough (Harvard U. Press)
Side-by-side literal translation.

Loeb Classical Library: Virgil - Aeneid 7-12, Appendix Vergiliana, H.R. Fairclough (Harvard U. Press)
Second part of collection.

The Aeneid, Rober Fagles (Viking)
A masterful poetic translation of the Aeneid that is simply awesome. Read it for pure enjoyment.

The Aeneid, Robert Fitzgerald
Long regarded as the best English translation of the Aeneid for decades. Faithful to the original.

Here's the AP syllabus, too:
Book I 1-519
II 1-56, 199-297, 469-566, 735-805
IV 1-448, 642-705
VI 1-211, 450-476, 847-901
X 420-509
XII 791-842, 887-952

Best of luck!
I admire you =)
