June 2008 - Spanish

There isn't a lot of discussion on this one, since it's probably harder to remember than the Math and Science and History.

I remember (and verified with a dictionary) that tonteria and cerca were two answers (dirty clothes bring to tonteria and cerca around a house)

I also don't remember answers because it was so frustratingly hard

Fill ins
1. tintoreria - where you should bring dirty clothes to
2. la rodilla - se lastimo _______. the kid who cried
3. tres veces - 1st question, the train

Passages/Advertisements
Email to friend
1. Wanted her to come visit him
2. Letter between two friends
3. It was a great vacation
4. Letter saying thanks

haha why can't i remember any others..

oh yeah haha it is tintoreria oops ... lcukily i put that but it doesnt mean i remember it!

the clock one... the first one was ahead, at the end he said his whole life has been little inaccurate

it was MUCH harder than i expected after PR practice tests

yeah it was way harder than any the practice tests...i'll consider myself lucky if i got in the 600s

wat was the one with all the tenses of haber? (i put hubiera because the other verb was conditional)

yeah it was a "si clause" si (past subj.)...(conditional)

i will consider myself lucky if I get in the 600s as well, and I thought I was going to get 700+.

Was the problem with the town..synchronization with the clocks? or not being able to adapt to their schedules?

I put synchronization with the clocks because I believe the topic sentence of the third paragraph started "However, they learned to adapt" or something similar to that.

wow this test was waaaayyyyy harder than the kaplan tests i took

guys, do you think we could try to get a cumulative list going?
sophia, i know we collaborated to get 89/90 questions on US History, so perhaps we can do the same here?

i remember for the passage about pets, some of the answers were: it is benficial to have a domesticated animal in the house, they can be beneficial to your health.

for the TV thing it was advertising a multinational station, and the information they put at the end was their telehpone number.

for the car advertisement, two answers were: it was especially convenient for people travelling with small children, and you could rent the cars at "oficinas de empresas."

anybody got answers for fill in the blanks? they were so tricky!

how did you know it was "oficinas de empresas"?

the station also advertised the number of viewers possible, right? wasnt it 25 million the question was "que destaca" which means distinguish (i think)

also for pets, they greet you when you come home

What was the answer to the sentence completion that went something like:

Ella siempre llega tarde a la clase, _______ no le gusta a la maestra?

and was pesar de an answer?

I put oficinas de empresas as well.. i think you were supposed to notice that they never mentioned any of the other choices in the advertisement..and then logically choose the company's offices..idk though

sophia - yes, you're right.
that's what i meant to say/put down

edit for ace 22 tenis: the correct answer is "lo que." "Lo que" is a neuter (no-gender) referrential pronoun that refers back to the "llega(ndo) tarde a la clase." As in, "what the teacher doesn't like is when she always arrives late."

I just learned that in spanish last week :)

what does "pesar de" mean?

"a pesar de" means in spite of if i'm not mistaken

I don't remember this test well enough to consolidate - it's all a blur now, especially after all that time spent on US answers!

Is it true that its the # wrong * .33 and not .25? it better have a generous curve or i am doomed!

yup its 1/3 off for incorrect answers
i think its because theres only 4 answer choices instead of 5

im pretty sure theres going to be a nicer curve...but either way, im still screwed :P

Does anyone remember what the last 5 questions were about?
For some reason I only remember only going up to #80..

i think the last 5 q's were about the domestic dog passage. i also remember failing the clock passage.
