June 2009 - Chemistry

actually it seems very similar to the 1994 collegeboard exam. VERY SIMILAR INDEED LOL! Hopefully that’s our curve

^shaheirruddin

i saw on the threads that you said you took it in may. was this easier or harder than may?

i think we’ve discussed all the hard questions.

may was a bit harder, and the curve ended up being HUGE.
77/85 was like 800.
I only got a 730 though because of the fact that I made so many CARELESS mistakes. Hopefully June will be my redemption.

yettiqui did you put 2 for the ionic balance
and 1 for the h2o coiffecent with teh hcl hnad h2s

for the K + H2O –> KOH + H2 problem, you can think of potassium (K) as the metal and the H2O as acid (water is amphoteric!), so when you add acid to water ofcourse you get hydrogen gas

anybody remember the balancing equation question that involved some combination of H, Hg, and S?

yes it was 1 coiffecent
the ionic balance was
2 i guessed both right lol

I remember not getting the balanced equation for HgCl2 + H2S. However, I can’t remember if I ever solved it… so now I’m scared that I forgot to leave a blank space, and I wrote all the answers after that on the wrong questions. I’m pretty sure I ended on question 69 (which is the last question, right?).

^70 is the last question. oh god that sux soadquake. but i thought i also thought i missbubbled on the sat 1 and i still got what i expected

the last question was 70 where the answer was

to end on 69 would be inappropriate and odd

sublimation go and call for hand scoring
or cancel. Sorry bro man i h8 fuxing collegeboard.

yettiq can you PLZ answer my question. I don’t mean to be a prick lol.

^dude i didnt mean that in an offensive way i was just anxious to see what covalent was about.

what was your question anyways?

the ionic balance and coieficent for h20
the confirmed answers are 2 for the first and 1 for the second
but wann a see what u got

Maybe I misread the question or misunderstood it, but I was under the impression that the questions asked what K would react with. In that case it would be OH-. The reaction does produce H2, but i’m not sure if that’s what they were asking for…

HgCl2 + H2S becomes 2HCl and HgS, and it’s already balanced! There was nothing that you needed to do.

the h2s one was 1 for sure.
i dont remember the ionic question

Oh wait, no, I remember now - it was question 70. I remember that was the heat of sublimation one. But the question is, did I bubble it as question 70 on the answer sheet? That will be determined on June 25 XD

Can anyone remember what question number the HgCl + H2S one was? Or, the questions directly before/after it?
